Kybella® is a synthetic version of one of the bodies naturally occurring molecules, called Deoxycholic Acid. The compound received FDA-Approval in 2015 to be used on the submental space for fat reduction. The purpose of this acid, physiologically, is to break down fat cells during digestion and aid in absorption. It works by destroying the membrane surrounding the fat cells so that the contents “pour out”. The acid renders the cell useless, and unable to store fat any longer. Over several weeks, the body naturally metabolizes the destroyed cells resulting in permanent fat loss in the target area. The natural elasticity of the skin will then help tighten the area, further restoring a youthful profile.

This is dependent on your unique physiology and goals. A session usually lasts anywhere from 15-20 minutes. Subsequent treatments must be administered no earlier than 1 month apart. The number of overall treatments needed to reach your goals will be determined by your injector.
Most people experience little to no pain, but all needle-administered injections have the possibility to cause discomfort.
